Eric Y. Chang, MD
Eric Y. Chang, M.D. is a Staff Physician at the VA San Diego Healthcare System and Professor of Radiology at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) Medical Center. He is also the Director of the Microimaging Core at the San Diego VA/Veterans Medical Research Foundation which provides pre-clinical imaging and histology services to the regional research community.
Dr. Chang completed his undergraduate and medical studies at Cornell University (1998-2001) and NYU School of Medicine (2001-2005), respectively. He completed his residency and musculoskeletal radiology fellowship at UCSD (2006-2011), where he was also Chief Resident.
Dr. Chang’s research lab investigates imaging technologies, including those to assess the microstructure, composition, and chemical environment of neuromusculoskeletal tissues, focusing on quantitative MR and US imaging. He has authored over 200 peer-reviewed publications and has received numerous awards, including the Presidential Early Career Awards for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE) award in 2017, which is the highest honor given by the United States government to science and engineering professionals in the early stages of their independent research careers, and also the President’s Medal of the International Skeletal Society in 2023.
